4. James WHITEFORD was born in 1783 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He was baptised on 19 Feb 1784 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He died on 26 Apr 1854 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He was a in Weaver. Chaplain in the Abbey Poorhouse, a Missionary, an Elder in the Canal Street UP Church. He was for a time a delegate to the Synod in Glasgow. James was also an officer in the Temperance Society and made motions in the Kirk Session records as to his feelings on the subject of intemperance.

He was married to Margaret FERGUSON on 21 Apr 1851.

He was married to Agnes HARPER on 6 Feb 1803 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Agnes HARPER was born about 1784 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. She died before 1851. James WHITEFORD and Agnes HARPER had the following children:
