* Commission renewed by James VII of Blairquahan, Co. Ayr. Whitefords are said to have inter married with the Blairs of that Ilk (Paterson's 'History of Ayrshire, Vol II, p471).
Styled ' Sir John Whytfoord' in the list of teh royal Scots Dragoons for 1688.

Note: It was interesting to see that a number of the officers in this regiment were subsequently 'outlawed for high treason' in 1695, it appears that many were involved in the Jacobite War in Ireland remaining loyal to King James rather than siding with Prince William of Orange.
