44. Charles WHITEFOORD was baptised on 9 May 1703. He served in the military in 1738. Captain of the Royal Irish He served in the military in 1740. Served in the West Indies Expedition. He served in the military in 1742 in Carthagena. Fought at Cartegena. He served in the military in 1745. Fought against Jacobites, noteably at Prestonpans. Reputedly subject of Sir Walter Scott's novel 'Waverley'. He died on 2 Jan 1753. He was a Colonel of the 5th Foot Regiment.
