bullet Sir Adam WHITEFOORD 1st Baronette of Blairquahan was Created Baronette of Scotland on 30 Dec 1701. He died on 2 Nov 1727 in Ayr, Ayrshire. He was also known as Adam Whitefoord of Dunduff. He was Made over lands of Dunduff to his brother Bryce. "The Whitefoords of Blairquhan, in the County of Ayr, are descended from a younger son of the Whitefoords of That Ilk, who took up residence in the shire of Ayr with his brother, Abbot of Crossraugel, during the reign of King James IV, who designed them Heritable Coroners of the jurisdiction of Carrick. They intermarried, at various periods, with many eminent northern houses -- Blair of that Ilk, Kennedy of Ardmillan, Cathcart of Carnock, and Inglis of Sheel."

Sir Adam Whitefoord of Blairquhan, created Baronet on December 30th, 1704, was the eldest son of James Whitefoord of Dunduff, and nephew of John Whitefoord of Blairquhan. Sir Adam had four sons; John, Allan, Charles, and Hugh. Sir Adam died in November 1727 and was buried in the new church of Ayr.

Sir Adam Whitefoord of Blairquhan is mentioned in the Presbytery Records as soliciting a seat In Straiton kirk for his family. He married Margaret, only daughter of Allan Lord Cathcart. Sir Adam died in 1728, on the 2nd of February of which year the Town Council of Ayr ordain "the representatives of Sir Adam Whitefoord of Blairquhan to pay two dollars, or what more they think fir to give, for the privilege of having the bells rung at the transportation of the corps (corpse) of the said Sir Adam Whitefoord, from his lodgings to the New Church of Ayr."
